Starting a new job can be hard, trying to balance learning the role with making friends means that the first few weeks are critical. I am very much an eager beaver so as I sat in my office on my third Friday and noticed the gentleman next to me seemed stressed, I wanted to learn why and asked him what was wrong. Although the man was perfectly nice to me, he swore as he explained the issue, and seemed agitated during our conversation. Things got awkward. I’ve been here three weeks, what do I know?! As I slowly rolled back to my desk, I said the five-letter word that changes everything: S-O-R-R-Y. Why did I say sorry? I could not fix the issue, nor was I the root of it, but the only thing I thought to say was, “sorry.” I wasn’t even sorry!
